Synopsis
The story begins with Ritsuka Fujimaru, an ordinary young man recruited as a "Candidate No. 48" for the Chaldea Security Organization. During a mandatory briefing, he falls asleep and is kicked out of the hall, leading him to meet a mysterious, soft-spoken girl named Mash Kyrielight and her strange animal companion, Fou. However, tragedy strikes during the final preparations for the first mission. A massive explosion, orchestrated by the traitorous Lev Lainur Flauros, devastates the facility, killing most of the leadership and leaving the top-tier mages in critical condition. In the wreckage, Ritsuka finds a dying Mash and refuses to leave her side as the facility’s automated systems initiate an emergency Rayshift.
The two are transported to Singularity F, a version of Fuyuki City in 2004 that has been completely engulfed in flames and overrun by skeletal shadows. Upon arrival, it is revealed that Mash has survived by fusing with a Heroic Spirit, becoming a Demi-Servant armed with a massive, cross-shaped shield. As the new Master and Servant pair navigate the ruins, they are ambushed by corrupted versions of legendary figures. They receive unexpected help from Caster, a version of the spearman Cu Chulainn who uses primordial runes to fight. Caster explains that a corrupted Saber Alter has claimed the Holy Grail and is maintaining the singularity, causing the end of the world.
The trio makes their way to the center of the burning city for a final confrontation. While Caster engages in a deadly duel with the Archer of the shadow realm, Ritsuka and Mash face the overwhelming power of Saber Alter. Through sheer willpower and tactical coordination, Mash learns to manifest the true power of her shield, blocking the devastating Excalibur Morgan. With the corrupted spirits defeated, the singularity begins to collapse and correct itself. Back at Chaldea, the survivors, led by the enigmatic Dr. Romani Archaman, realize that this was only the beginning. Seven more singularities have appeared across history, and Ritsuka and Mash must now embark on the Grand Order to reclaim the future of mankind.
