Synopsis
The story begins in the immediate aftermath of the revelations regarding the Holy Sol Temple. Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle, along with the rest of Company 8, uncover historical evidence that the religion guiding their world was manufactured by the White-Clad to prepare humanity for destruction. This leads to a massive rift within the Fire Force, as some companies remain loyal to the church while others join the rebellion to uncover the truth. The narrative follows the team as they investigate the mysterious Tabernacle and the origins of the first Pillar.
As the White-Clad move to secure the final Pillars needed to trigger the Great Cataclysm, a series of coordinated attacks break out across Tokyo. Shinra experiences more frequent and intense Adolla Links, connecting his mind to his brother Sho and the First Pillar, who reveals the tragic history of how the current world was built upon the ashes of a previous civilization. The White-Clad protectors, led by the formidable Haumea and Charon, launch an assault on the city to seize control of the Amaterasu reactor, which they intend to use as a catalyst for the world's end.
The conflict peaks during a massive battle in the streets of Tokyo where the Fire Force must fight not only the White-Clad but also giant, ancient Infernals that have been dormant for centuries. Amidst the chaos, Arthur travels to a remote location to undergo a bizarre yet effective training montage to enhance his "Excalibur" through his own delusions, while Shinra struggles to maintain his sanity as the Adolla dimension begins to merge with reality. The part reaches its climax when the moon develops a terrifying eye, signaling that the convergence is nearly complete. The story concludes with the Fire Force making a desperate stand at the gates of the Amaterasu, realizing that the key to stopping the flames lies in the memories of those who lived before the first Great Cataclysm.
