Overview
The Beginning After the End Season 1 is a captivating fantasy and reincarnation epic that follows the journey of King Grey. In his previous life, Grey was a powerful and respected monarch in a world where martial ability was the ultimate measure of success. Despite his unparalleled strength and authority, he lived a life of isolation, burdened by the regrets of his past and the lack of true human connection. His story takes a dramatic turn when he is suddenly reborn into a new world filled with magic, monsters, and mystery. Reincarnated as Arthur Leywin, the son of two former adventurers, he retains the memories and wisdom of his past life. This unique advantage allows him to begin his magical training while still an infant, setting him on a path to become a legendary figure in the continent of Dicathen.
The series meticulously builds a world where mana is the lifeblood of power. Through Arthur's eyes, viewers explore the intricate mechanics of mana cores, elemental magic, and the bond between mages and their beast companions. The narrative focuses heavily on character growth and the importance of family, something Arthur lacked in his previous existence. As he navigates the challenges of childhood while possessing the mind of a king, the show balances lighthearted moments of domestic life with high-stakes action and political intrigue. The visual style is designed to highlight the beauty of the diverse landscapes, from the lush forests of the elves to the rugged mountain passes, providing a rich backdrop for a tale of redemption and the quest for a second chance at happiness.
Synopsis
The story begins with the reincarnation of King Grey into the body of baby Arthur Leywin. Living in the small town of Ashber, Arthur uses his knowledge of ki from his previous life to accelerate his mana core development, shocking his parents, Reynolds and Alice, with his early awakening. Recognizing his talent, his father begins to train him in the basics of combat. When Arthur is four years old, the family joins a caravan to the city of Xyrus, but they are ambushed by a group of ruthless bandits. During the chaotic struggle, Arthur sacrifices himself to save his mother, falling off a massive cliff into the depths of a canyon.
Miraculously surviving the fall, Arthur discovers a hidden cavern inhabited by Sylvia, a majestic and ancient dragon. Sylvia senses Arthur's noble soul and spends months training him, eventually gifting him her beast core and an egg before sacrificing herself to hide him from a powerful, shadowy entity. After leaving the cave, Arthur rescues Tessia Eralith, the princess of the Elven Kingdom, from slave traders. He travels to the kingdom of Elenoir, where he stays for several years, training alongside the elves and forming a deep bond with Tessia. Upon reaching the age of eight, Arthur finally reunites with his grieving family in a tearful homecoming.
To further his experience and hide his true identity, Arthur adopts the persona of an adventurer named Note. Wearing a mask, he joins the Twin Horns, his father’s former party, and ventures into dangerous dungeons to sharpen his battle instincts. During these missions, he masters multiple elements and demonstrates combat prowess far beyond his years. The season reaches its climax as Arthur prepares to enroll in the prestigious Xyrus Academy. Just as he prepares for this new chapter, the dragon egg he received from Sylvia finally hatches, giving birth to a small but powerful black dragon named Sylvie. As Arthur enters the academy, he must navigate the complex social hierarchies of young mages while keeping his immense power and past life a secret, all while the first whispers of a looming continental war begin to surface.
