Synopsis
Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider Season 1 (2025) centers on Tanzaburo Tojima, a 40-year-old construction worker who has spent his entire life in rigorous mountain training to become a real-life Kamen Rider. Just as he prepares to abandon his "delusions" and sell his massive toy collection, a series of convenience store robberies by a gang role-playing as the villainous organization Shocker sweeps Japan. Donning a plastic mask, Tojima intervenes, only to be branded an internet laughingstock for his "heroic" interference.
The season follows Tojima as his "pretend play" transforms into a dangerous reality when he discovers that Shocker—and their superhuman "monsters"—actually exist. He eventually unites with other devoted adult fans, including Yuriko Okada (who becomes "Tackle") and his rival Ichiyo Shimamura ("V3"), to form a ragtag team of self-made heroes. As they clash with high-level assassins and brainwashed "Shocker Idols," the story balances over-the-top martial arts action with a heartfelt exploration of what it means to hold onto childhood dreams in the face of a cynical adult world.
