Synopsis
Following the catastrophic Temple Alien mission that claimed the lives of his best friend Masaru Kato and his love interest Kei Kishimoto, Kei Kurono is left as the sole survivor, deeply scarred and emotionally isolated. He returns to his mundane daily life, haunted by the trauma of the game, only to be summoned back to the oppressive apartment by the enigmatic black sphere. This time, Kurono is joined by a fresh batch of bewildered newcomers who have recently died, including the telekinetic duo Kenzo Sakata and Hiroto Sakurai, and the beautiful but troubled model Reika Shimohira.
As the sole veteran of the group, Kurono reluctantly assumes the role of leader, teaching the rookies how to use the high-tech suits and weaponry. Their first major trial in this season is the battle against the formidable Shorty Aliens, a species of agile, telepathic creatures that test the limits of the new team's coordination. Despite Kurono's attempts to keep everyone alive, the brutality of the hunt results in heavy casualties, reinforcing the grim reality that survival in Gantz is a luxury reserved for the ruthless.
The narrative takes a dramatic and psychological turn in the final arc, which diverges into an anime-original storyline. Gantz initiates an unprecedented and twisted mission: the target is none other than Kei Kurono himself. The sphere broadcasts Kurono's identity and location to the other players, offering a massive point reward for his death.
