Overview

Clevatess Season 1 is a dark, high-fantasy epic that explores the philosophical divide between monstrous power and human vulnerability. Set in a world where humanity has long lived in fear of ancient, god-like beasts, the series centers on the most terrifying of them all: the titular Clevatess, the King of Beasts. The production boasts a gritty, atmospheric visual style, blending high-octane action choreography with sweeping, melancholic landscapes. Unlike traditional fantasy stories where a hero rises to defeat a demon lord, this series flips the perspective, following the "villain" as he attempts to understand a species he initially views as nothing more than annoying insects.

The narrative delves deep into the corruption of human monarchies and the desperation of those caught in the crossfire of magic and war. Season 1 focuses on the themes of parenthood, judgment, and the inherent value of life. As Clevatess travels through the kingdoms of men, the show presents a world on the brink of apocalypse, where the true monsters are often those wearing crowns rather than those with claws. The action is brutal and visceral, showcasing the overwhelming disparity between the divine-like strength of the beast king and the strategic, yet often futile, efforts of human armies and mages. It is a journey of discovery, where a destructive force of nature learns the weight of a single human life through the eyes of an infant and a disgraced knight.

Synopsis

The story begins when the Kingdom of Edon sends a massive force of legendary heroes to slay Clevatess, the ancient beast inhabiting the untamed wilds. The mission is a catastrophic failure; Clevatess annihilates the army with ease, but he is left deeply irritated by the persistent interference of humans in his long slumber. Deciding that humanity is a plague that must be eradicated, he prepares to wipe out all kingdoms. However, amidst the ruins of a destroyed settlement, he discovers a lone, crying human infant. Intrigued by the fragility of the child and the fact that it does not yet know fear, Clevatess pauses his path of destruction. He decides to grant humanity a stay of execution, taking on a human form to travel the world and determine if there is any reason to spare the race.

He is joined by Alicia, a survivor of the failed expedition and a skilled knight who is forced into his service to protect the baby. Throughout the first half of the season, the trio travels through various provinces, witnessing the cruelty of the local lords who exploit their people in the wake of the beast king’s awakening. Clevatess often intervenes in conflicts, not out of heroism, but out of a cold, logical curiosity, often resulting in spectacular and violent displays of his primordial magic. Alicia acts as the moral compass, trying to show the beast king that despite their flaws, humans are capable of kindness and sacrifice.

As the season progresses, the Holy Empire catches wind of Clevatess’s human disguise and sends their elite "Inquisitors" to eliminate him, believing they can steal his power for their own expansionist goals. This leads to a climactic confrontation in the city of Othelo, where Clevatess is forced to reveal his true nature to save the child and Alicia from an imperial trap. The season concludes with the total destruction of the imperial vanguard and Clevatess standing over the burning remains of the city. Though he has saved his companions, his disdain for human greed has only deepened. The finale ends on a haunting note as Clevatess stares at the sunrise, still undecided on whether he will be humanity’s savior or its ultimate executioner, while Alicia realizes that the greatest threat to the world isn't just the beast king, but the humans who provoked him.
