Synopsis
The story picks up with Shinra Kusakabe and Special Fire Force Company 8 intensifying their investigation into the Evangelist's true motives. The season begins with the emergence of the Fifth Pillar, a chaotic teenager named Inca Kasugatani, who possesses the ability to sense the "lines" of heat. A frantic struggle ensues between the Fire Force and the White-Clad to secure her, ending with Inca choosing to join the villains for the sake of thrill and destruction.
Seeking answers about the Great Cataclysm, a joint task force is formed to travel to the Chinese Peninsula. There, the team discovers a massive "Tabernacle" structure identical to the Amaterasu power plant in Tokyo. Inside, they encounter a sentient crow and the Woman in Black, a powerful entity who shares a vision of the past with Shinra via an Adolla Link. These revelations confirm that the Tokyo Empire's power source is fueled by a human sacrifice and that the Evangelist intends to repeat the Cataclysm to turn Earth into a sun.
Upon returning to Tokyo, the conflict becomes more personal and political. The White-Clad initiate a series of attacks to draw out the remaining Pillars, leading to a massive battle in the city streets involving Charon, Haumea, and other high-ranking subordinates of the Evangelist. Meanwhile, internal secrets are revealed about the Holy Sol Temple, forcing the Fire Force to question the very foundations of their faith.
