Synopsis
Ghost in the Shell: Arise Border Season 1 (which is actually the first OVA, titled Ghost Pain) focuses on a young Motoko Kusanagi, a hacker and cyborg working for the mysterious 501 Organization, as she investigates a bombing in Newport City that killed a military arms dealer. During the investigation, Kusanagi suffers from memory loss due to a failed "Ghost Hack" on a conspirator, which infected her with a memory virus. Upon discovering the 501 Organization's involvement and gaining full ownership of her prosthetic body, she leaves the unit, and with the encouragement of Public Security chief Daisuke Aramaki, begins forming the new Section 9 unit.
